Civil War PA Road Show The story of PA’s role in the great conflict… a 53-foot expandable
trailer with interactive exhibits and special programming on the
Keystone State’s vital role in the war. It is an emotionally powerful
mobile exhibit experience with interconnected programs that focus
on the ways the War transformed the lives of Pennsylvanians and
their communities. |

Civil
War Quilts and Care Packages: Support from the Women at Home Women throughout Pennsylvania and the nation rose to meet the challenge
of collecting supplies, money and producing materials needed to
equip the Union Army. Ann Diseroad tells the story of the U.S. Sanitary
Commission, a civilian organization which provided millions of dollars
worth of food, clothing and medical supplies to Union soldiers.

“Dear
Home” John Rissell badgered his parents to let him enlist with his Muncy
friends. In more than 120 letters “home” Rissell captured his time
in camp, time on what seemed like endless marches, and on the battlefield.
His letters convey tremendous pride in his comrade’s bravery along
with incredible sorrow in the loss of so many friends.

Muncy Cup
Golf Tournament Shotgun start at White Deer Golf Course. Co-sponsored with the
Muncy Kiwanis Club, the event features door prizes, men's and women's
contests, net & gross tournament prizes; optional skins game.

Quilt
Show – 7th Annual The Muncy Quilt Show is an opportunity to enjoy antique, traditional
and new quilts, representing virtuously all styles. Each year the
event is a showcase of stunning hand and machine workmanship; appliqué
and quilting techniques, reflecting broad-based originality. The
antique and vintage quilts set this Show apart from most other quilt
shows. The 2011 Quilt Challenge, “Civil War Quilt,” is open to all.

Antiques
Show 2011 Diversity and quality are the foundation of this juried, indoor
37th annual show of an impressive range of antiques: 19th and 20th
century furniture, fine porcelain and glass, stoneware & pottery,
quilts & textiles, estate jewelry, folk art, primitives &
Americana, smalls & accessories.

Civil War properties that have a story to tell will be highlighted
this year. Consider spending a weekend in Historic Muncy and tour
a medley of unique and notable historic properties and special exhibits.
This year’s exhibits will feature Muncy-area Civil War-related memorabilia
and a “presentation” exhibit from a private collection. Includes
light refreshments and living history events.

5th
Annual Artist Exhibition & Sale This regional, invitational art show features a rich
and varied collection of original works by accomplished artists
in diverse media, including photography, oil painting, jewelry,
fashion, pottery, woodworking, quilting, ceramics, watercolor, sculpture,
home décor and accessories. Attend the Friday Opening Night Reception
and meet the artists. This year’s show also will include a special
exhibit area of artwork produced during the Civil War era

Christmas
Reading For the children in all of us, the ever-popular reading of Clement Clarke Moore’s holiday story is held at the Muncy Historical Society Museum, 40 N. Main St., Muncy. Santa Claus is known to attend and hot chocolate and cookies are served after the reading. The society's Museum Shop will be open for holiday shopping ideas. If you can't attend, read the poem here.
