Kathy Sterngold
Kathy has been making pottery and ceramic art since 1974 when she completed a Master of Arts degree at Alfred University. She was an original member of The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, one of the nation's leading clay art cooperatives. In 1978, Kathy returned to Muncy to establish her own pottery studio.
She teaches the ceramics classes at Lycoming College, and she taught pottery-making
at Bucknell University. Kathy is a member of The Potters Council of the
American Ceramic Society and The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen.
Her pottery was exhibited at the Pennsylvania Governor's Art Awards Ceremony and at the grand opening of The Community Arts Center in Williamsport, PA.
Kathy's pottery and ceramic art are displayed year-round at The Eagles Mere Art Gallery. Kathy uses strong natural shapes colored by warm earthy glazes. Her style is to work with the clay so each piece has its own character and appeal. While she is inspired by clay's historical roots, Kathy also loves to find new ways of shaping clay to express her artistic ideas.
