21st Annual Quilt & Textile Show

Spend a weekend in historic Muncy!

Always more than a Quilt Show, in 2026 featuring a national challenge, antique, vintage, traditional and modern quilts, textiles and woven coverlets, accessorized from pieces from private and Muncy Historical Society collections. The show is always “set” so that attendees can “step far away from the quilt to see the quilts geometric design and color patterns as a whole composition, or to stand inches away and observe the combinations of fabric, stitching, batting density and handmade variations.

The quaint and beautiful river town of Muncy once again is the setting for the Muncy Historical Society’s annual Quilt &Textile Show. Slated for June 12-13, visitors will have the opportunity to view antique, vintage and modern quilts, wearable art, and woven coverlets. This year the Show will be held in the cafetorium of the Ward L. Myers Elementary School, 125 New Street, Muncy. This location features easy access and convenient and ample parking. The show runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 12 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 13. General admission is $8, with discounts for six or more guild members attending together ($6 per member).

This juried show is open to all quilters. This is an opportunity for quilters to enter a quilt, or quilts, and/or wearable art, and for the non-quilter to exhibit textiles from their private collections (see registration instructions below). We anticipate that show entries will be stunningly beautiful from the antique through to modern textiles, representing virtually all styles and techniques.

Always More Than a Quilt Show!

Always more than a quilt show, the show activities have been selected to appeal to all ages and young people are encouraged to attend. This event is designed to be a glorious, colorful, and educational experience. There will be special exhibit and demonstration areas, door prize drawings, and a fabric sale! Previously awarded Quilts of Valor along with those yet to be awarded will also be on display. This year’s show will have “demonstration adventures” … all designed for young people and adults alike. Many of the demonstrators will be available during most of the show hours to provide instruction and consultation.

Now in its twenty-first year, the event will be a showcase of spectacular hand and machine workmanship, appliqué and other quilting techniques, reflecting the originality of the makers and their expertise with needle and thread, as well. The show is always “set” so that attendees can “step far away from the quilt to see the quilts geometric design and color patterns as a whole composition, or to stand inches away and observe the combinations of fabric, stitching, batting density and handmade variations.”

A three-person panel will judge the quilt entries and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded in the Quilt Challenge, Appliqué, Other Techniques, Use of Color, Hand Quilting, Domestic/Hand-Guided Machine Quilting, Computer-Guided Machine Quilting, Bed, Mini, and Wall Hanging, Youth, Modern, Art, Wearable Art, and Other Textile categories. The judges will award only one winner for Best of Show, selected from all first-place winners, a Best Original Design winner and a Judge’s Choice winner. Friday show attendees will nominate their personal favorite for the Viewer’s Choice award.

Challenge Quilt Theme – 2026

Continuing our America250 theme, the 2026 Quilt Challenge theme is “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” This idea captures the idea that every person has to right to live, to be free, and to chart one’s own course toward fulfilling lifetime enjoyment of life and liberty – including acquiring and possessing property and pursuing and obtaining happiness and safety. Its interpretation is broad and defines just what is meaningful to the quilter.

Challenge quilts must fall between the following dimensions: widths between 50” and 60” and lengths between 56” to 65”.

Quilts of Valor®

The Vintage Gatherers Quilters, in partnership with the Muncy Historical Society, and operating under the auspices of the Quilts of Valor® Foundation are making quilts to honor and gift to veterans and service members who’ve been touched by war. On Saturday at 1 p.m. members of the Vintage Gatherers Quilters will present quilts to veterans and/or active service members who have served stateside and those who have served abroad. To be eligible, service members or veterans are those who have served during declared war, conflicts, police actions, peacekeeping missions, and counter terrorism operations; who have cared for casualties, injured and ill on the frontlines, in-theater, deployed or in hospitals and medical centers overseas and stateside; who have provided support and supply to those engaged in battle or combat or preventing conflicts; who have provided casualty assistance to families of the fallen, escorting the fallen or remains and/or participating in honor guards; and/or who have been wounded or injured in training for combat or direct support of combat.

Each veteran’s service is registered with the Quilts of Valor® Foundation. Each presentation quilt has a special label, designating it as an official Quilt of Valor – the label confirms who received the quilt, who pieced it, who quilted it, and who bound the layers together. To register an active service member or veteran, a registration form can be completed online at www.QOVF.org or contact the Muncy Historical Society at MuncyHistorical@aol.com, or 570-546-5917 and someone there will complete the registration process.
