Theresa Spitler

Theresa Crowley Spitler works in pastel to create her paintings and explore color form and texture. Her subject matter includes landscapes, seascapes, and still life. Her still life paintings depict everyday objects and she often receives requests from her patrons to include their personal mementos in a still life arrangement that will become an original painting. She enjoys painting landscapes that convey mood and atmosphere, which is evident in her creation of skies and clouds.

“I love working with pastels because they are pure pigment and have a brilliant intensity. I apply many layers to give my paintings a deep rich appearance. Mark Robbins

Mark Robbins would sneak into his father’s woodworking shop where he turned baseball bats for neighborhood ball games. Later in a high school class, Mark turned his first bowl and was fascinated by the process. Since 1996 Mark has returned to woodturning and displays his art at various shows and galleries.

As a master wood artisan, Mark strives “to find what nature has hidden in the wood.” His focus is to create organic “life” forms with seamless, flowing lines, contrasted with texture and carved elements. Each piece has its own character and uniqueness.

Bruce Storm

Bruce Storm continues to take inspiration from the Muncy area and this year’s collection is no different. We are excited to share his comments highlighting this year’s art.

“Muncy has an inordinate number of its’ original outbuildings, barns, and sheds remaining today. In addition, they are located along a gridwork of alleyways and cross streets situated at the back end of many of these properties. And most have stop signs nearby! This series of eight (8) paintings is titled: from the series – A Stop in Muncy 2021.”

When creating his works, Bruce begins composing paintings through his laborious process of writing ideas that will be followed by en plein air sketching and, lastly, hours of painting in layers, typically seven transparent applications in a given spot. His paintings represent his philosophy hidden beneath the humor of those whimsical interpretations of his environment.

Nella Storm

Nella Godbey Storm is a seasoned professional artist who focuses on the beauty of Lycoming County and of majestic Bald Eagle Mountain. Working in the impressionist style Nella is dazzled by the dramatic palette of this county. Some hues last only a few moments at sunset or sunrise. Using acrylic on board or canvas, her artwork documents this place and time for future generations knowing that it will change. In addition to her fascination with Bald Eagle Mountain, Nella also takes inspiration from her favorite vacation destiny, Campobello Island, within the Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick, Canada.

Her exhibitions have been housed in institutions such as the Javits Center, New York City, the Fire House Gallery, and the Gallery of the Americas, both in Texas, and the La Brae Institute of Switzerland, among others. She has created art pieces for Pope John Paul II and for his Women’s Center in Poland along with other domestic and international clients. Working in metal, redware, textiles, and paint, Nella has collaborated in design projects with architects, goldsmiths, redware makers, graphic designers, ceramists, among others.

As a historic color consultant, she specializes in the complex effects of color, combining psychology, trends, and color design theories. Using both the art and science of color, she has provided advice on choosing the right color palettes for specific projects and to achieve the objectives presented by private homeowners, historical societies and museums, churches, law, and medical offices, shops, and restaurants. Her consulting services include over 600 architectural projects, both for interiors and exteriors, and include Tiffany & Company in New York City, and residential properties in France, Denmark, the Caribbean, Canada, and across the United States.

Nella Godbey Storm lives in Muncy, Pennsylvania with her artist husband, Bruce Storm.

Lynn Kibbe

Lynn Kibbe is a professional artist specializing in nature and animal art. After having worked in other media, she now works exclusively in scratchboard. She is self-taught accepting limited commissions.

​Lynn has demonstrated at area venues throughout Pennsylvania and has offered scratchboard workshops. She has won awards at many online and in-person shows. ​​Lynn is active in the local art scene and her work is with collectors across the United States and abroad; and has been chosen to be included in the Susquehanna Health Tower Project for use in medical centers around the region. She has also served on local and international art associations as a board member (most recently for the International Society of Scratchboard Artists).

Lynn has donated artwork to fundraisers for local animal rescue organizations such as the SPCA and Appalachian Horse Help and Rescue. ​Both Lynn and her husband grew up and now live again in Northcentral Pennsylvania on 106 acres of property where nearly all of Pennsylvania’s wildlife can be viewed and which houses “Foggy Mountain Studio.”

Prior to becoming a full-time artist in 2010, Lynn had a career as an administrative specialist and later as a paralegal which allowed her various locations for reference material. She had served 10 years of active duty in the United States Air Force; afterward as a civil service employee, and lastly in the civilian sector prior to becoming a full-time artist.

Lynn’s Statement

“I realized as an adolescent that I enjoyed drawing and wanted to paint. My love of nature and animals was always what I was moved to depict. Nature fascinates me as God is the ultimate artist. My subject choices define me and through them, my collectors get to know me. Throughout my artistic years, I’ve worked in various mediums, including oil, watercolor, acrylic, and most recently, scratchboard.

I fell in love with the great contrast and the details I could achieve with scratchboard. The technique lends itself to fur and feathers and motivates me to depict the wildlife and domesticated animals that I love and creating different textures with different tools. I want my art to stir emotion in the viewer so that they want to find out more about the animal or story starting with the tangible artwork.

My favorite tool is the scalpel knife; much like an X-acto knife, but finer. It allows for many layers of scratching without going too deep into the clay, thus making more layering possible. I know I’ve succeeded when I see many different tonal values and realistic textures. Light is the most important aspect; it can make a scratchboard image spectacular if captured correctly. I hope you love my work as much as I have loved creating it.”
